The working groups which had been established in CODESA 1 were now tasked to reach agreements on key issues assigned to them and to compile a report, reflecting consensus at CODESA  2. In the working groups each participating organisation was represented by two delegates and two advisers. 

The subseries Working Groups contains documents on facilitation and management of working group discussions such as attendance registers and correspondence relating to the substitution of representatives on working groups. 

Working Group 5 was assigned: Time frames and implementation of CODESA decisions. Working Group 5 compiled and submitted a report for CODESA 2 on its activities.

Working Group 4 assignment was: The Future of the TBVC States. Working Group 4 compiled a report for CODESA 2 on its activities.

Working Group 3's assignment was: Transitional arrangements/interim government/transitional authority. Working Group 3 compiled a report for CODESA 2 on its activities.

Working Group 2 assignment was: General Constitutional Principles. Working Group 2 was unable to deliver a report to CODESA 2 as no agreement was reached on core outstanding issues.

Working Group 1 was tasked with two assignments. The first assignment was: Creation of a climate for free political participation; and the second: Role of the International Community. Working Group 1 compiled a report for CODESA 2 on its activities and sub-groups.

Working Group 1 formed a Steering Committee (WGSC), and three sub groups each allocated their own theme:

• Sub Group 1 (WGGS1) theme: Completing the Reconciliation Process
• Sub Group 2 (WGSG2) theme: Continuing the Security and Socio-Economic Process
• Sub Group 3 (WGSG3) theme: Creating a Climate and Opportunity for Free Political Participation

Working Group 1 focused on assignment 1 and addressed assignment to on an ad hoc basis as it related to the themes of the sub groups.
